He is the founder and host of the award-winning Where to Ski podcast and has played a pivotal role in high-tech startups, corporate strategy, and leadership advisory. He is a descendant of U.S. Presidents John Adams and John Quincy Adams and the great-grandson of financier J.P. Morgan.
Early life and education
John Adams Morgan Jr. was born in Boston, Massachusetts, to John A. Morgan (1930–2025) and Elizabeth Robbins Choate (1933–1997).[1] He attended The Taft School, graduating in 1972, and later earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and History from the University of Colorado in 1976.
Career
Entrepreneurship and Business Leadership
Morgan is a seasoned entrepreneur and business strategist with a strong focus on emerging high-tech industries. He has founded multiple technology-driven ventures and advised over 100 high-growth companies in areas such as strategy, artificial intelligence, data analytics, cybersecurity, and fundraising.
In 1986, he founded American Sports Timing Systems, Inc.,[2] serving as CEO and President until 1995. He holds patents for sports timing devices and was instrumental in developing the first RFID system for athletic applications.
From 1997 to 2010, Morgan was a Global Alliance Executive at IBM's Software Group. He later joined Deloitte Consulting as Vice President of Solutions (2010–2020). In 2021, he founded Morgan Global, an advisory firm, where he serves as Managing General Partner.
Skiing and Media
A lifelong skier and industry advocate, Morgan created and hosts Where to Ski, a widely recognized podcast covering ski destinations worldwide. The show has reviewed over 31 resorts globally, offering insights from expert skiers and industry professionals. Personal life
Morgan married Karen Ann Boe in 1986,[5] with whom he has one son, Robert A. Morgan (born 1989). In 1995, he married Karen Harriet Groomes in Paget, Bermuda. They have three sons: Evan Nicholson Edwards Morgan (born 1996), Ian Robbins Morgan (born 1996), and Aidan Choate Morgan (born 1999). The family resides in Shady Side, Maryland.
