He is the Founder and Managing Partner of Bedrock Capital and a former Partner at Founders Fund.
Template:Section Lewis was born in Calgary, Canada to Sholem Tabachnick and Laurette Tabachnick, both of whom were teachers.[1] Lewis graduated from Queen's University in 2004 with a Bachelor's Degree.[2]
Template:Section In 2004, Lewis joined P&G after they offered to sponsor his green card.[1]
In 2008 he joined Peter Thiel's hedge fund Clarium Capital[3], but left to co-found TopGuest a loyalty software company for travel companies that was acquired for in 2011.[4][5][6][7]
Lewis then joined Founders Fund as a Partner after being recruited by Peter Thiel. During his time at Founders Fund Lewis led investments in Lyft, Wish, Privateer Holdings, Nubank and RigUp.[8][9][10] Brendan Kennedy on stage at TechCrunch Disrupt 2015. Lewis left Founders Fund in 2017 to found Bedrock Capital with Eric Stromberg.[11][12][13] Bedrock currently has approximately $500 million in investment capital.[14] Founders Fund is an investor in Bedrock.[12]
In 2019, Lewis was named as one of the Top 100 Venture Capitalists in the world by The New York Times and CB Insights.[15][16]
Template:Section Lewis is widely known for his investments in companies considered "narrative violations" a term he coined in 2017.[17][18] In a white paper published on Bedrock's website Lewis wrote "The best time to invest in a company is when it’s most in violation of a popular narrative".[19][18]
Template:Section Lewis has been critical of President Trump, writing in a Medium post "A world in which President Trump makes any sense at all is not the world I want my grandchildren to inherit".[20] The blog post was in stark contrast to his then-bossPeter Thiel's vocal support of President Trump.[21][22][23]
