She served as the Senior Policy advisor for the United States U.S. Department of Homeland Security under the Obama Administration from 2015-2017 under the Barack Obama Administration. She now serves as the Head of Security Policy & Election Integrity, Google Play & Android at Google.[1][2][3]

Early Life and Education

With her father being a computer scientist, she became interested and pulled towards the knowledge of technology. She also had a strong passion for law as a child and knew she would become a lawyer. In fact, Camille began her career early by having her parents sign contracts when they would make promises. Camille Stewart is a well-respected authority on cyber, technology, and national security, providing solutions to critical security policies and directives affecting global intelligence programs.[4][5][6][7][8][9] She graduated from Miami University with a Bachelor of Science degree in business, and later attended American University, Washington College of Law|American University Washington College of Law to earn her Juris Doctorate degree. In 2020 she was selected to be a part of the Harvard Kennedy School|Harvard Kennedy School Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs Cybersecurity Fellowship.

Career and Professional Life

Camille’s forward-thinking strategies and innovative skillset around creating security programs designed to assess cyber risks and crises in cross-functional environments have assured the safety of citizens, companies, and government agencies around the world.[10][11][12][13][14][15]

While in law school, she studied intellectual property protection, theft, and abuse online. Upon graduating, she worked for Cyvelllance, a cyber threat intelligence company. It was there she learned the importance of her technical knowledge and background and that it would serve a higher purpose in cybersecurity. Camille told The Root “I quickly found myself at the intersection of law, technology, and society.” Camille also spent time on Capitol Hill as a Legal Fellow for Marcia Fudge|Representative. Marcia Fudge and Rep. Emanuel Cleaver|Emanuel Cleaver II Congressional Black Caucus.

It has been stated that the highlight of her cyber and legal career came from being appointed by the Obama Administration as the Senior Policy advisor for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Her experience in that role empowered her to work towards advancing former president Barack Obama’s cybersecurity vision.

With a heavy presence on social media, informing everyday people of the importance of cybersecurity, technology and the best ways to utilize it with her tweets #EverydayCyber, Camille is able to help those who follow her to be intentional and take responsibility regarding their social media security and privacy.

Since 2019, she serves as the Head of Google Play & Android.

Overall, Camille hopes to uplift and empower entrepreneurs, practitioners, and users throughout the industry.[16] She is the founder of the legal consultancy and startup incubator, MarqueLaw, PLLC, and TheDigitalCounselor.com blog which develops and promotes forward-thinking solutions and leaders in cybersecurity. Camille's work goes beyond the corporate environment to leading change for the public good. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for the International Foundation for Electoral Systems, GirlSecurity and on the Advisory Board for Women of Color Advancing Peace, Security, & Conflict Transformation (WCAPS).[17]
