Brian Calle (born October 16, 1980) is an American entrepreneur, author, radio personality, and publisher. He is the CEO and publisher of LA Weekly and Irvine Weekly and was previously the Opinion Editor of the Southern California News Group. [1][2]

Template:Section Calle holds a master’s degree in Communication from California State University, Los Angeles, and a bachelor’s degree in Communication and Political Science from USC. He is also an emeritus member of the Board of Governors for the University of Southern California.

Template:Section Calle started his career in media as an editorial writer and columnist with the Orange County Register in 2009. In 2016, he was appointed Opinion Editor for Southern California News Group[3], overseeing opinion content for 11 daily newspapers and websites, including the Los Angeles Daily News, Orange County Register, Riverside Press-Enterprise, Daily Breeze in Torrance, Long Beach Press-Telegram, Pasadena Star-News, San Gabriel Valley Tribune, Whittier Daily News, Inland Valley Daily Bulletin, the Sun in San Bernardino and the Redlands Daily Facts. In November of 2017, Calle bought the LA Weekly with a group of investors[4], and took on the role of publisher and CEO of the publication with the goal of turning it into the "cultural center of the community." In addition to his role at LA Weekly,[5][6] Calle is also the publisher of Irvine Weekly,[7][8] which reports on local news, music, art, food, and culture in Irvine, CA.[9][10] He is also a professor at the Chapman University School of Communication, and was previously the Executive Director of the Chapman University Center for Freedom of Expression[11] and Media Integrity.[12][13] Calle has made appearances on numerous radio and television programs, providing political and cultural commentary. This included a stint as host of The Catch-Up on KABC,[14][15] as well as co-host of YouDecide SoCal 2014, a segment on Fox11 news where Calle and co-host Tony McEwing interviewed candidates running for office.[16] Currently, Calle is the host of the L.A. Weekly Weekly Podcast,[17][18] where he interviews celebrities, entrepreneurs, musicians, chefs, and others with strong ties to L.A. culture and community.[19]
