Gordon Weinberger

Template:Template otherTemplate:Wikidata image Gordon Mark Weinberger (born 29 June 1965) is an American entrepreneur, self-published author and board certified personal trainer. He is best known for writing about his one-time success achieving national fame for his role as the Pieman of Gordon's Pies. Weinberger is the founder of a company formerly known as Top of the Tree Baking Company, Inc., bakers of “Gordon’s Pies”- a brand of baked, then flash-frozen, fruit pies sold as "thaw and sell" and found in the bakery section of supermarkets across America during the 1990s.

Weinberger has published three books, including the books Simple As Pie: My True Story (published in 2002), Infinite Persistence Life Book (published in 2005), and Infinite Persistence Life Journal (published in 2005). Gordon Weinberger is also an American College of Sports Medicine board certified personal trainer.

Early life and education

Weinberger was born on 29 June 1965 to Dr. Norman Weinberger and Dr. Susan Weinberger in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. His father is a pediatrician, and his mother is an expert on school and community-based mentoring programs. He grew up with a younger sister named Lisa.

Weinberger graduated from Norwalk, Connecticut's Brien McMahon High School in 1983. He earned a bachelor's degree in government and sociology from Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine, in 1987.

Career

Weinberger began thinking about bringing his great grandmother's apple pie recipe to the next level by founding his own bakery in Londonderry, New Hampshire, in 1994, after winning two apple pie-baking competitions in 1991 and 1992.

Weinberger's "OOOO-La-La, Eat Mo' Pies!" received massive media coverage and word-of-mouth publicity thanks to a unique public relations technique called Guerrilla Marketing. He once worked for a famous Boston-based public relations agency.

Within a five-year period, under the leadership of Weinberger, Gordon's Pies rose from being a small roadside cottage business to a multi-million dollar American Dessert Bakery.

In 2002, Weinberger sold his pie business to Mrs. Smith's Bakeries, the country's leading frozen dessert company and a business unit of Flowers Foods located in Suwanee, Georgia. He took a three-year hiatus after selling his company and began writing his incredible life story.

Journey as an Author (2002-2005)

Weinberger's debut book, Simple as Pie!: My True Story, was released in 2002 with Pam Coleman. The book details how he went from almost going into bankruptcy to developing a multimillion-dollar national pie business by adhering to the principle "Never give up, no matter what".

His second book, Infinite Persistence Life Book (released in 2005), was inspired by the famous mathematical equation Pi. Infinite Persistence is a self-help book that encourages the unlocking of one's potential in the retelling of Weinberger's own experience. Meanwhile, he also published Infinite Persistence Life Journal to assist entrepreneurs in exploring life's infinite possibilities.

Weinberger awards include:

• Outstanding achievement in Marketing Award- American Pie Council, 2003
• The coveted Blue Chip Enterprise Award- The United States Chamber of Commerce, 1999

Weinberger was named as “An American Trendsetter” by CNN News. And, as a featured guest on QVC, Weinberger won The Quest for America’s Best Tour for selling a record number of Apple Pies in less than three minutes.

Personal life

Weinberger is married to Cynthia Carron Weinberger, a board-certified hand therapist, and licensed occupational therapist. They are the parents of three children.
