He has received numerous awards and recognition for his work, including a feature in Investor Telegraph. Devin is also best known for his media coverage during the BET Hip Hop Awards (2017-2019), using his personality name "Fly Guy." In addition to his filmmaking career, Ricks is also an entrepreneur with investments in several businesses.[2][3]

Ricks started his filmmaking journey at an early age; recording home videos with his family & friends creating skits.[4] He went on to study film at Morgan State University and opened his own production company, Devin J. Ricks Productions.[5] His Love Cycle Saga started as a short film for a BET contest, but he turned it into a movie series. Ricks aims to share beautiful love stories and help people navigate the complicated emotion of love through his films. Early life and education

Devin J. Ricks was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland. Growing up, Ricks was interested in creating and recording videos and would often make home videos with his family; directing and editing the content himself. This early passion for film-making led him to pursue a film and video production degree at Morgan State University.

While at the university, Ricks continued honing his filmmaking skills and produced several short & feature films. He also founded his own production company, Devin J. Ricks Productions, which would later serve as the platform for his entrepreneurial endeavors.

After graduating from Morgan State University in 2013, Ricks began to take his career in film and media more seriously and turned his passion into a profession.

Ricks' career began when he started his own production company, Devin J. Ricks Productions. Since then, he has worked on numerous film projects and gained recognition. In addition to his work in film, his other entrepreneurial aspirations furthered his momentum within the entertainment business. Devin started his own streaming/media outlet Dev TV!, and his lifestyle/clothing brand, The DJR Experience.[7]

In 2017, Ty Hunter, fashion stylist to American singer-songwriter Beyoncé, debuted his apparel line "No More Apologies" during New York Fashion Week. In 2018, VH1's reality TV show, Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta, featured the clothing line during the franchise's season seven cycle.[8]

In 2017, Dev TV! propelled Ricks in doing media coverage for BET, in association with VH1 & MTV, and several business endeavors with America's most prominent networks, interviewing artists in the entertainment business.[9]

In 2021, his fourth cinema project, "Love Cycle: Situations PT. I" debuted at AMC Theatres on the eastern coast.[10]

Summer of 2022, Devin gained attention when his media outlet went viral on R&B singer Mario's social media platform during the singer's Verzuz Battle performance.

In 2022, Dev TV! released the launch of The After Party; a nostalgic blend between the throwback shows 106 & Park and TRL (Total Request Live).[11] The show became popular on the Dev TV! social media platform.[12]

In 2022, Ricks ventured with iHeart Media as the market's Promotions Coordinator in his hometown of Baltimore, Maryland.

As an actor, Ricks has appeared in several films and television shows, some including, We Own This City, Lady In The Lake,[13] Burning Sands & Love Cycle: Situations PT. I. In an interview with Investor Telegraph, Ricks discussed the challenges of directing his first film, balancing his various entrepreneurial endeavors, and his approach to shooting films. He credits his early experiences creating home videos and working on his Love Cycle Saga series as a crucial part to his success.[14]
