Pitamber’s experiences in prison and rehabilitation, along with his resilience and dedication to positive change, have led him to found a social organization called Resilient by Design.[1][2][3]

As a keynote speaker, Pitamber is known for his motivational speeches, in which he shares his life story of overcoming childhood sexual abuse, domestic violence, drugs, and his father’s death.[4][5]

Early life and education

Pitamber was born and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana. He grew up struggling with various traumas, such as sexual abuse, domestic violence, and drugs.

His life took a turn for the worse when, as a 17-year-old honor student, his father died. Struggling to cope with his loss, he attempted to rob a Little Caesar's restaurant at gunpoint in Avon, Indiana, and was subsequently arrested, convicted of armed robbery, and sentenced to 11 years in prison.[6][7]

During his time in jail, Pitamber devoted himself to self-improvement and made the most of the available resources, tools, and assistance. His good conduct earned him an early release after serving four years, but he encountered difficulties upon returning to society. Having spent four years in a prison where segregation was enforced, he felt uneasy in the presence of white individuals. Yet, he stayed determined to establish a better future for himself and avoid repeating his past mistakes.

By chance, while working at a Goodwill store after his release, Pitamber ran into Deputy Police Chief Brian Nugent again, the officer who arrested him in the first place. Pitamber asked Nugent to be his mentor, and Nugent agreed. With Nugent's guidance, Pitamber landed a steady job in heating and air and also renovated his home. He began studying and graduated with an associate degree in science from the Ivy Tech Community College in 2020.[8]

Career

As a keynote speaker, Pitamber is known for his motivational speeches, in which he shares his life story of overcoming childhood sexual abuse, domestic violence, drugs, and the death of his father.[9] He speaks on topics ranging from generational trauma, family dynamics, teen self-help, young adult self-help, mental health, financial literacy, leadership, job readiness, and healing inner wounds.[10] He has partnered with various law enforcement agencies, educational institutions, social service organizations, and non-profits to spread resilience, awareness, positive outreach, and growth.[11][12]

In addition to his public speaking work, Pitamber runs a social service organization called The Resilient by Design.[13] The foundation's goal is to promote positive change and empowerment through education, mentorship, and community involvement.[14][15]

Personal life

In his free time, Pitamber enjoys reading, working out, and spending time with friends and family.
