He is the founder and CEO of Rex, a technology, investment and real estate company, headquartered in Austin, Texas. He co-founded InvestResa real estate, asset and property management company.

Business career

Rex is the founder & CEO of Rex which consists of technology, investment and real estate companies.

Rex is a co-founder of InvestRes (formerly Avesta[1]) which formed in Tampa, Florida in 2010. InvestRes consists of a group of residential real estate, investment and property management companies. InvestRes owns 17,000 residential units with $1.5b assets under management, employing 400 people within Texas, Colorado, Arizona and Florida.[2][3]

In 2015, Rex embarked on an 18 month expedition to conduct a business investigation and feasibility study in order to greater understand how to apply his business strategy on the grandest scale possible while mitigating risk. He held over 1,000 meeting with business, non-profit and government leaders in 85 countries, contriving a global strategy, based upon the knowledge and experiences gained from personally seeing the localised issues, opportunities, and cultural nuances on a microeconomic level.[4][5][6]

Rex founded the technology company MakeRise (formerly TrustWork) in 2017, a mobile app connecting service industry professionals to customers. Users can advertise services they offer and customers can advertise services they require. Users can offer a variety of services depending on their skillset, enabling them to build a professional profile and reputation based on their customers' reviews. The company now has over 400 employees with offices in Seattle, San Francisco, Tampa Bay, Austin and Dallas.[6][7][4]

In 2021, Peter Rex launched ATX Acquisitions, a firm specializing in investments across multifamily, office, and hospitality properties within the commercial real estate sector. Additionally, he co-founded OwnProp, a platform that allows investors to acquire fractional, tokenized real estate assets supported by blockchain technology.

In 2022, Rex joined the advisory council for Viewpoint Diversity Score, an initiative aimed at fostering respect for diverse viewpoints within the corporate world.

Philanthropy

Cristo Rey Tampa High School

In 2016, Rex and his company Avesta became founding partners and supporters of Cristo Rey Tampa High School[8], which is part of the Cristo Rey network of schools, which now supports over 175 low income students[5] with a college preparatory education and corporate work study experience maximising their chances of success in college and life.[9][10]

Rex has been featured on Fox News[11], Fox Business[12], Cheddar[13] and authored an op-ed article in The Wall Street Journal[14] for his opinion on big technology business leadership in Silicon Valley and why he is relocating his businesses and employees to Texas.

Education

In 2007, Rex attended Harvard Law School, graduating with a JD in Law in 2010. In 2005, Rex graduated from Georgetown University with a BA in Philosophy and Government. Rex is also a CPA[5].

Personal life

Rex is married with 3 children and lives in Austin, Texas[5]. Rex resides in Austin, Texas, with his wife and five children.
