Aragon is a highly accomplished medical professional and operations executive in the healthcare industry. He serves as the president and CEO of Surgikal Assistants, Inc. He is also a member of several medical organizations such as the National Surgical Assistant Association,[1] the National Commission for the Certification of Surgical Assistants,[2] and the Illinois Surgical Assistant Association.

With a career spanning over two decades, Aragon has extensive experience leading high-performance teams of physicians and surgical assistants. He is skilled in building and optimizing organizational processes, measurement systems, and infrastructure to maximize business results in healthcare service operations nationwide.[3]

Aragon also has a background in strategic planning and marketing surgical assistant staffing solutions to hospitals and facilities. He is also a successful physician and medical facility relationship builder with an emphasis on a customer service-oriented philosophy centered on patient safety. Aragon's specialties include general surgery, OB-GYN, robotics, orthopaedics, and neurosurgery.[4]

Education

Aragon obtained his degree in medicine from the Autonomous University of Chihuahua, School of Medicine, in 1990. He pursued his pre-graduate internship at General Hospital "Salvador Zubiran" in Chihuahua, Mexico, from 1990–1991. He also completed a general surgery residency at the Autonomous University of Ciudad Juarez, School of Medicine, from 1992–1995. Aragon also holds an MBA in healthcare management from Western Governor's University.

Career

In 1995, Aragon established RedMed Servicios Medicos, where he created a medical network of primary care physicians and specialists in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico. He also served as the director of transfusion services for the Secretary of State in Chihuahua, Mexico from 1996 to 1997.[5]

In 1996, Aragon began his career as a practice administrator at Petrified Forest Medical Centre in Holbrook, Arizona, managing a two-physician internal medicine practice. He then worked as a regional director at Midwest Surgical Assistants, Inc., managing 21 surgical assistants and providing coverage by contract to three facilities. In 2001, he joined United Surgical Assistants, Inc., a surgical assistant staffing company in Chicago, where he served as the managing partner and successfully negotiated the company's acquisition of American Surgical Professionals in 2011.[6]

In 2005, Aragon founded Surgbill, Inc., a medical billing company specializing in third-party reimbursement for non-physician surgical assistants. He then served as VP of the Midwest Region for American Surgical Professionals from December 2011 to March 2014, where he grew the region by 400% in 3 years through organic growth and successful negotiations of multiple small acquisitions.

From April 2014 to December 2018, Aragon served as Chief Operating Officer for American Surgical Professionals, where he managed 610 employees in 13 states and 180 facilities, implemented process improvements throughout the operation, and improved operating performance, policy issuance, billing, bonus restructuring, and customer service. In 2019, he became the Managing Director of Operations and Business Development at American Surgical Professionals, where he managed operations in Illinois, Iowa, Indiana, Kansas, and Missouri.

Currently, Aragon is the Chief Executive Officer of Surgikal Assistants, Inc. At Surgikal Assistants, he manages the operations and optimizes its processes to maximize business results in healthcare service operations nationwide.

Memberships

Aragon is a member of several professional organizations, including the American College of Healthcare Executives, the American Association for Physician Leadership, the National Surgical Assistant Association, where he serves as Chair of the Government Affairs Committee, the National Commission for the Certification of Surgical Assistants, where he serves as President, and the Illinois Surgical Assistant Association, where he serves as a Board Member.
