He is the founder and CEO of Sawyer Business Group, a prominent holding company that operates various franchise locations and real estate ventures.[1]

Notably, his company is the largest Sport Clips franchisee in the Southeast, with 54 locations spread across multiple states. In addition to Sport Clips, Sawyer's holdings include 10 Eggs Up Grill restaurants,[2] 2 Urban Air Adventure Parks, 2 Snapology locations, and various commercial and residential real estate assets. With a focus on expansion and a track record of success, Sawyer continues to shape the landscape of franchising and the real estate industries through his leadership and entrepreneurial endeavors.

Early life and education

Sawyer was born Anthony Scott Sawyer on September 18, 1974, in Colorado, to Danny and Janey Sawyer. Living in Hawaii and Germany during his formative years, he relocated to Newport News, Virginia, during the fourth grade. Sawyer attended Denbigh High School, where he excelled as an athlete and achieved the rank of All-American. He was a three-time Virginia state champion in long-distance running.

During his undergraduate studies at The College of William and Mary, Sawyer became interested in finance and entrepreneurship. He further honed his skills by obtaining an MBA from Duke University's Fuqua School of Business.

Career

As a Certified Public Accountant and a Chartered Financial Analyst, Sawyer has held pivotal roles overseeing customer segmentation and analytics departments for renowned companies, including MCI, Capital One, and Genworth Financial. His expertise in these areas has made him a respected figure in the financial industry.

In 2006, Sawyer founded Sawyer Business Group, a prominent holding company with diverse business interests.[3] The group is one of the largest Sport Clips franchisees in the Southeast, operating 54 locations. These establishments span multiple states, Virginia, Maryland, Indiana, Ohio, Georgia and Tennessee.[4]

Additionally, Sawyer Business Group holds two Urban Air Adventure Parks, two Snapology locations, and diverse commercial and residential real estate assets.[5]

In February 2023, Sawyer, and his wife, Brigitte Bartley Sawyer, secured a significant deal acquiring 10 Eggs Up Grill restaurants in the Hampton Roads territory.[6] With this strategic move, the Sawyers will introduce their first Eggs Up Grill location to the public in late 2023.[7]

Philanthropy & community involvement

Through franchisee ventures, Sawyer demonstrates his commitment to giving back.[8] On Veteran's Day, his Sport Clips shops provide free haircuts to service members and veterans, with $2 per haircut donated to the "Help A Hero" campaign.[9][10] His goal is to raise $50,000 through this initiative.[11]

He also volunteered as a children's soccer coach and dedicated his time to The Boys and Girls Club.[12]

Sawyer resides in downtown Greenville, SC, as well as Richmond, VA, with his wife, Brigitte Bartley Sawyer, and five children, which include two daughters named Jessica and Samantha Sawyer and three stepsons named Braxton, Christopher, and Thomas Stroud.

Sawyer supports his favorite football team, the Pittsburgh Steelers, and follows their games. Furthermore, he is a passionate traveler who has explored 54 countries, broadening his horizons and cultural understanding.
